Hey Sugi, Well I would say it would be a good idea for you, at least in terms of getting to know some folks at other MFA programs who run visiting writers' series, etc...might be a nice networking opportunity.
Of course for most of us, it's just fun. Cocktails, and maybe the chance to see writers dance awkwardly like Elaine from Seinfeld. you know who I mean.
I haven't been for a few years, but for some years before those years, I thought it was fun. Some disgusting things happen, but the book fair is wonderful and the readings are usually good.
Hey, Steve. I'll be there. Look for me in booth B28 of the trade fair. I'll be the sullen fellow sitting in front of a giant vinyl backdrop of Susan Sontag, offering a crazy crazy crazy low rate on Bookforum subscriptions.

Dear God I do know who you mean.

Despite Steve K's persuasive arguments, I can't watch Elaine dance this year... maybe another time.
I spent all day today and yesterday traveling! To the Midwest and back! I hope no one else got caught in the snowiness.
